My Purpose
In today’s uncertain world, there is a thirst for meaning and purpose. It feels especially bleak when the illusion is pierced, a realization that being fully alive, cannot be bought with a “Master Card.”
The purpose of this space/website is to offer you a respite along your path. It will be used to share information from personal and professional experiences, give you some tools to navigate life’s stormy tossings, and primarily to encourage and uplift you.
Sometimes life’s path is strewn with obstacles and it’s difficult to know where to take the next step. I liken it to my experience of rock climbing. Out there, high above my comfort level, I felt terribly alone and insecure, pulling myself up the rock in an excruciatingly slow manner. I tried to figure out which little crevice, or hole, might hold hand, or foot, and keep my weight balanced, in order to risk a leap upward. In other words, what should my next step be? Full of fear and excitement I totally forgot there was a belat, a safety rope and if I fell, I would not die. I’d probably dangle some, and get scratched up, but it would not kill me. The fear or hesitancy might do me in, but not the fall. So there were tools in place to protect me, but becoming overwhelmed with anxiety, I forgot.
Often in life when we are in despair over life’s struggles, not knowing which way to turn, we sometimes forget we are not alone. I would like to be a person in your life who gives you a “safety harness” of tools and encouragement. I want to help you tackle your climb with more intention and with the confidence to get beyond stuckness and fear. So you ask where do I start?
I believe there are abiding possibilities for each and every one of us, no matter where we start. Examine your life, your story and start anywhere you feel stuck, one step, one layer, one new permission within yourself, at a time. During the last thirty years in the helping profession, I have been privileged to witness the great joy, one feels on the other side of the struggle. I have also witnessed great despair, fear, anxiety and depression in some clients. Some got to the other side, however there were those who were unable, or unwilling, to heal their emotional pain. My work has been, and continues to be, devoted to helping people become, in one sense or another, more of what is possible for them. My commitment then, my passion actually, is to help people become more fully alive.
Over time I will be addressing topics listed below. If you do not see a topic addressing what is important to you, please ask for it. Send me an email with your requests or feedback. Tell me what helps, what you want more of as well as what didn’t help, and what you want less of. We all learn together as we go along.
